      Ludhiana March 2Dedicated to the 400th Parkash Purb of Guru Teg Bahadur an online seminar on the life philosophy teachings and sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji was held at SSG Government College Sidhsar on Tuesday. The seminar was organised under the supervision of principal Simarjeet Kaur. In the beginning Prof Rajdeen was appealed to students to draw inspiration from the teachings of Ninth Sikh Guru. Punjabi professor Satinder Pal Kaur said Guru Teg Bahadur taught us the importance of oneness.
    • National e conference begins at GADVASU | Ludhiana NYOOOZ
      Ludhiana March 2A five-day national e-conference on 'Igniting young minds for sustainable growth through entrepreneurship and skill development: A vet's vision' started at GADVASU here today. The conference has been organised by the Institutional Development Plan (IDP) cell of the university. Dr RC Agrawal DDG (Education) and National Director NAHEP-ICAR was the chief guest for the inaugural session of the conference. Sarvpreet Singh Ghuman Principal Investigator of the IDP at GADVASU and organising chairman of the conference presented the details of the events to be held in the next five days. He said the conference encompasses events such as quiz sessions poster presentations (e-canvas spills) for UG PG and faculty members and expert technical sessions.

      Ludhiana March 2Under the ongoing campaign 'Youth of Punjab' that was launched a few days ago sports kits were given to students of the Khalsa College for Women Civil Lines today. Sukhwinder Singh Bindra Chairman Punjab Youth Development Board distributed kits among students at a function organised on the college premises. Bindra said to make the state a sporting power house of the country the drive had been started by the board under which sports kits were being distributed. It was aimed to engaging the youth of the state in the sports by channelising energies in the right direction.
    • Drug peddler s property worth Rs 41 79L attached | Ludhiana NYOOOZ
      Tribune News ServiceLudhiana March 2The Ludhiana police claimed to have attached the property of a city-based drug peddler worth Rs41.79 lakh. Orders in this regard were received by the police via email from the Ministry of Finance and Department of Revenue office of Competent Authority and the Administrator New Delhi. The SHO being the competent authority had also passed freezing order on the property. The competent authority in Delhi had also served notice to the affected party this February to produce its viewpoint about the attachment of the property. The Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal had recently said that the process to attach the property worth Rs87 lakh of eight drug smugglers had also started.
    • Snatcher lands in cops net 14 cell phones seized | Ludhiana NYOOOZ
      Ludhiana March 2The CIA 2 wing of the city police nabbed a notorious snatcher and recovered 14 mobile phones from his possession. The ACP said acting on a tip-off a raid was conducted and the accused was nabbed from Sherpur. During the questioning the police recovered the mobile phones which he had snatched from Shimlapuri Daba and Focal Point area in the recent past. Varinder confessed to have committed over 20 incidents of snatching in the city in the past. The accused who is a drug addict used to sell snatched mobile phones to arrange money to buy drugs.

    • Mayor inaugurates cattle shed | LUDHIANA NYOOOZ
      Ludhiana: Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu and Municipal Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal inaugurated a new cattle shed of the Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana at Burj Pawat near Machhiwara on Tuesday. The MC had earlier signed an agreement with Dhyan Foundation that will look after feeding living labour and medical expenses of cattle while the corporation will pay them for the same. As a large number of stray cattle are roaming in different parts of the city the MC needs to construct more cattle sheds. Only around 150 stray cattle are to be shifted to the Burj Pawat cattle shed.
    • Migrant s murder case cracked | LUDHIANA NYOOOZ
      Ludhiana March 2The Ludhiana police claimed to have solved the murder case of a migrant. The Sahnewal police arrested two friends of the deceased on the charge of committing the crime on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Pawan Thakur of the Barota road area and Roshan Kumar of Dhillon Nagar. Gupta said initially it was a blind murder case but the police probe managed to identify and nab the accused in short time. Since it was an isolated place none noticed it for a few days.

    • Petition filed against fixing of paver blocks around trees in city | Ludhiana NYOOOZ
      Tribune News ServiceLudhiana March 1A city resident and president of the Council of Engineers has filed a petition with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) against fixing of solid pavers (inter-locking tiles) and concrete over roots around trees as well as in green belts along roadsides in the city. He has submitted a petition with the NGT seeking directions for the removal of interlocking tiles as well as concrete around trees as well as from green belts along roadsides. He said: “It is a well-known fact that roots of trees absorb water oxygen and other nutrients essential for their growth and development. Concrete over roots damages critical root structures and inhibits the trees' ability to absorb water and oxygen. Interlocking tiles can be seen fixed around the trees in almost the entire city under the jurisdiction of the MCL LIT and GLADA” he added.

The vaccination will be done at seven places which include the DMCH CMCH Fortis Hospital SPS Hospital Raghunath Hospital Deep Hospital and Oswal Hospital in the private sector. At government hospitals the vaccination will be done at Civil Hospital UPHC Jawaddi and Civil Surgeon Office Complex. “We are trying to rope in more private hospitals for providing vaccination facility so that people do not have to travel long distances. There would be three sites for vaccination namely open site reserve site and mobile site.

      Tribune News ServiceLudhiana March 1The Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) celebrated Livestock Nutrition Awareness Week from February 22-26. The awareness week started with a one-day workshop on “Recent trends in livestock nutrition to optimise their productivity” organised at the campus. The visit was organised by Department of Animal Nutrition under the guidance of Dr Udeybir Singh. During the awareness week Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mohali Barnala and Tarn Taran organised awareness camps and training programmes to emphasise on the importance of balanced nutrition for livestock. The stakeholders were also sensitised about issues related to animal nutrition through TV/Radio Talks newspaper articles etc.

      An information obtained under RTI revealed that the encroachments are in over 35 parks of the city. Now a city resident has also complained to the Chief Minister against the encroachments in the parks of city. The encroachments have also come up in three parks of Focal Point circle nine parks of Cheema Chowk circle three parks of Basant Park circle four parks of New Model Town circle and seven parks of Model Town Extension Park circle. The encroachments have also been found in some parks of Dugri Circle Guru Nanak Pura circle and Out Park circle. A resident of Chandar Nagar Keemti Rawal said “I have obtained information under RTI about encroachments in a number of parks.
    • Intoxicating pills seized from former councillor s building | Ludhiana NYOOOZ
      Ludhiana March 1The police on Monday conducted a raid at building of former BJP councillor at Chawani Mohalla in Ludhiana and recovered a cache of intoxicanting pills and other items from there. The police had also made an attempt to conduct raid on Sunday night but they had faced resistance by some persons for not having a search warrant. After getting the search warrant today the police conducted raid at the building of former BJP councillor Satish Nagar. During the raid the police found intoxicant medicines. Drug inspectors were also present during the raid.

      Ludhiana: As many as 20 farm women attended the five-day training course on “Food preservation” which was jointly organised by the Department of Extension Education and the Skill Development Centre Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) at the village Leelan Ludhiana district. Dr Lavleesh Garg Extension Scientist urged the farm women to acquire skill oriented trainings and start venture by uniting and forming self-help groups. He also urged the rural women to read PAU farm literature for updating their knowledge.     • Woman booked for abetting suicide | LUDHIANA NYOOOZ
      Ludhiana March 1Eight months after a man committed suicide the police have booked his wife on the charge of abetment to suicide. Himanshu (24) of Swati Nagar in Ludhiana had committed suicide in June 2020. Deceased's mother Neena Bedi had filed a complaint with the police blaming her daughter-in-law for the death of her son. Now a case under Section 306 of the IPC has been registered against Himanshu's wife at the Salem Tabri police station on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Aditi Khatra of Gurgaon.
