      Tribune News ServiceLudhiana February 25The Ludhiana Commissionerate today launched “Ghumshuda” app by putting to use technology to match missing persons with the recovered persons. Agrawal said in this app the police had updated the records of more than 10 years of missing persons of all police stations of Ludhiana and so far more than 3000 missing persons' details had been uploaded in the app. To streamline the process of matching the missing persons with recovered persons the app has been developed. “We will update all data of missing persons and kidnapped persons after receiving a complaint at the police station level. The app server has the photo search feature which can match the found person's details with missing person's data in the app at just one click.

      Ludhiana: The Physics Society of Khalsa College for Women Civil Lines Ludhiana organised quiz competition under the supervision of Sangeeta Sharma Head of Physics Department. The quiz was conducted through online mode in which 52 students of B.Sc-I participated in the quiz with great zeal. “The central focus of this competition was on creating more awareness of science and technology and inculcating scientific temper amongst students.       Ludhiana February 25Smashers XI scripted another easy win defeating Mitron XI by six wickets in the ongoing 4th Kundanite Premier League (KPL) being organised by the Kundan Vidya Mandir Alumni Association at KVM Civil Lines ground here today. Yesterday they had thrashed KKR XI by eight wickets. Mitron XI scored 85 runs after losing six wickets and Smashers XI achieved the target losing four wickets. The architects of their win were Rachit who scored 44 runs off 22 balls and Ravish who contributed 16 runs facing 12 balls. In other matches Black Panthers XI demolished KVM Lions 53 runs Sukhmani XI outperformed Super Kings XI by seven wickets Ludhiana Warriors outclassed KVM Rhinos by nine wickets.

      Ludhiana February 25Sarabjit Kaur student of BA I and Parveen Kaur student of MA I stole the limelight by winning three and two titles respectively in the one-day 78th edition of the Annual Athletics Meet of Government College for Girls held here today. Sarabjit Kaur came out victorious in 200m 400m and 1500m races while Parveen Kaur emerged winner in shot put and sack race. Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal Commissioner MC Ludhiana inaugurated the meet. Teja Singh Dhaliwal senior vice president Basketball Federation of India and Dr Dharam Singh Sandhu Principal SCD Government College Ludhiana were the guests of honour at the event.       Ludhiana February 24Members of the Youth Akali Dal today staged a protest against hike in fuel prices in a unique manner. Gurdeep Singh Gosha president YAD Ludhiana and party workers distributed the small containers filled with petrol to highlight the issue. Gosha said “As the fuel prices have been increased it seems that petrol will be available in small containers. “The government should bring the fuel prices under GST to provide relief to people” he said. In other states the petrol prices are below Rs90 but the taxes by Punjab government is too high and the petrol prices are above Rs92 in the state he added.

      Ludhiana February 24The Ludhiana rural police registered an attempt-to-murder case against 14 persons who attacked a man over old enmity near Behal Patti village in Hathur. The booked accused have been identified as Gurmanjot Singh Harjit Singh Charna Ramna alias Gurtej Guggi alias Ekam Gora Goggi Harvinder Singh Bindri Har and four unknown persons. When he reached Behal Patti a speedy Maruti Alto car hit his bike from the rear side. He said he had an old enmity with Gurmanjot and others and recently he had arguments with them in a village due to which they threatened him of dire consequences. Investigating officer ASI Tarsem Lal said a case had been registered against the accused and raids were on to nab them.

    • Principal Secy visits village over plan to shift dairies | Ludhiana NYOOOZ
      Sinha also talked to residents of the village regarding the MC's proposal of shifting of dairies to Gorsian Kadar Baksh which is located at a distance of around 33 km from Ludhiana. MC Chief Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal said everything was positive regarding the proposal for shifting of the dairies. MC Superintending Engineer Rajinder Singh said there was a plan to shift the dairies on around 374 acres of land at the village. The Superintending Engineer said: “The Principal Secretary told the village residents about benefits of the project under which dairies from the city would be shifted to the village. A resolution regarding the shifting of the dairies is likely to be presented before the MC House soon.

The aim of this mission is to engage the youths of the rural areas in the sports by channelizing the unbounded energy in the right direction. Addressing the representatives of youth clubs in Guru Nanak Bhawan Shergill said these kits would play a pivotal role in the promotion of sports and other social activities in the rural areas. Sukhwinder Singh Bindra chairman Punjab Youth Development Board said that the sports would keep the youth away from the drugs and they would be able to contribute for the society.       Tribune News ServiceLudhiana February 23Members of the Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) staged a protest against the Punjab Government Municipal Corporation Ludhiana and the MLA concerned for allegedly not paying attention to address the problem of overflowing sewers on Jassian Road in Ludhiana. They demanded that the problem should be resolved at the earliest otherwise they would be forced to intensify their agitation. Residents said the matter regarding the overflowing sewage was under the notice of the MC officials concerned but nothing had been done to provide them relief. The LIP leader Randhir Singh Sibia said several mishaps had taken place as sewage was getting collected under the railway bridge. If the overflowing sewer problem is not solved we will be forced to intensify our agitation

The documentary prepared by a local lawyer Harpreet Sandhu was a combination of high quality colourful pictures of the gurdwaras in various parts of the region depicting the journey of Guru Teg Bahadur from his birth till martyrdom. ACP (Traffic) Gurdev Singh said there was a need to construct four crossing points for movement of traffic under the bridge (two for U-turn on both ends and two for movement of traffic between link roads). Moreover the width of unpaved section was required to be reduced by 7X7 sq ft from both sides.
