Ludhiana (Punjab), Sep 14 (ANI): As the Indian government is busy battling coronavirus outbreak, a number of citizens and organizations are also not behind in extending their support to the needy people who are worst affected by this pandemic. Be it through distributing essential items or providing ambulance services they have been contributing their bit without making any discrimination on the basis of caste and community. Ludhiana (Punjab), Sep 12 (ANI): Mobile testing vans, under state government are conducting COVID-19 tests on Ludhiana roads. Currently, 4 corona ambulances are running across the city to ensure easy accessibility for testing. These COVID-19 tests are done free of cost and reports are being provided instantly. Locals appreciated the initiative as it is comparatively safer. One of the locals said, “Earlier we had to go to Civil hospital and there was huge rush there. It also holds a risk of getting infected with the virus. This facility helps us to avoid civil hospitals.”

Ludhiana (Punjab), Sep 09 (ANI): The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) Kadian held meeting in Punjab's Ludhiana on September 09 over recently promulgated agriculture-related ordinances by the Central Government. They were protesting against new agriculture ordinance. While speaking to ANI, the president of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Kadian), Harmeet Singh said, "We will block main roads of Punjab on September 15 from 12:00 pm to 02:00 pm. We appeal people to support us and force government to take back ordinances."

Ludhiana (Punjab), Sep 08 (ANI): School Bus Welfare Association staged a protest in Ludhiana on September 08. The protest was over no aid provided by government during the pandemic. Around 3,000 drivers associated with School Bus Welfare Association came out on roads to show their anguish. As school and colleges are closed, they have no source of income to pay their loans. Protestors demanded the government to bear their losses from April 01. Ludhiana’s School Bus Welfare Association General Secretary said, “We are receiving notices from bank, though this matter is in Supreme Court but still banks are pressurizing us. We demand that the government should bear our losses from April 01.” - Bicycle industry in Ludhiana unable to fulfill demands due to labour shortage amid COVID - 19
Ludhiana (Punjab), Sep 08 (ANI): Bicycle industry is currently in boom after COVID-19 unlock but the industry is unable to fulfill the desired demand as the production is hampered due to labour shortage in Ludhiana. The manufactures said they are unable to fulfill demands as production is hampered due to labour shortage. The demand of the bicycle has increased but shortage of labours getting in the way to meet demands. The industry is currently working under 45% labour force. President of FICO, Gurmeet Singh Kular said, “Cycle industry is struggling with labour shortage as government had sent labourers to home in special trains. The industry is working with 45% labour force. We demand that the government should make arrangements to bring the labourers back.”

It has become a centre of attraction for the locals in city. Chocolate idol has been made by ‘Just Baked’ bakery in BRS Nagar. Chocolate idols has been crafted and decorated with golden edible colour. The demand of such unique idols is quite high since past few months. Price of idol starts from Rs 2,100 and it varies depending on the size. The idol has to be kept at 25 degrees room temperature.
