      Tribune News ServiceLudhiana January 29Demanding regularisation of their jobs the protest of teachers associated with the Punjab & Chandigarh College Teachers' Union (PCCTU) entered the ninth day at Arya College campus on Friday. The deadlock between the protesting teachers and the management still continues. The protesting teachers told that till date no representative from the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha Punjab approached the protesting teachers' and responded to the continuous reminders of the PCCTU. “It appears that the Arya College Management Committee Ludhiana is in no mood to regularise the services of 18 assistant professors working in their institution. It may be important to mention here again that the same decision is being implemented by rest of the college managements in Punjab.
    • Phones stolen from vehicle | LUDHIANA NYOOOZ
      Ludhiana: A box containing 25-30 mobile hand sets of different companies were stolen from a mini-truck parked outside the office of a logistic company near Jalandhar Bypass when the vehicle of the firm brought the material to its office. The complainant said the accused had taken 75 blank and signed cheques of Bank of India from him on the promise of getting him a loan of Rs 5.30 lakh. He said he had also given his Aadhaar card an ATM card and a PAN card to the accused in good faith. “However the duo filled an amount of Rs 1 lakh on one of the cheques and presented it in the bank which was dishonoured” he said. He alleged that they had cheated him by presenting the cheque in the bank with the intention of fraudulently withdrawing money from his account.

    • Covid 19 2 deaths 38 ve in Ludhiana district | Ludhiana NYOOOZ
      Tribune News ServiceLudhiana January 27Covid claimed the life of two persons during the past 24 hours while 38 fresh cases of the virus were reported from Ludhiana district. The Health Department confirmed that three persons including two from Ludhiana and one from Hoshiarpur district have died of virus. Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said 11845 healthcare workers had got the jab in the district the highest in any district in the state. He said now the total number of patients related to Ludhiana was 25628 while 3893 patients belong to other districts/states. The total number of persons who had lost their lives included 996 from Ludhiana and 474 from other districts.

Presently he was working as the director of the Gurmat Sangeet Academy in Anandpur Sahib run by the SGPC. He is also the recipient of the Punjab Government's Shiromani Ragi Award and Punjabi University's Gurmat Sangeet Senior fellowship. Singh also has five books with a total of over 40000 copies on “Gurmat Sangeet” published by the SGPC to his credit while his two other books were under publication. Also several of his students are teaching music and “Gurmat Sangeet” in various institutions and universities.

      Sports CorrespondentLudhiana January 28The Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA) an affiliated unit of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) will hold trials to select Under-14 probables at GRD Global Education Institution ground on Hambran Road on January 30 and 31. Selected players would be imparted training/ coaching under the supervision of trainer and coaches to prepare them for the future competitions they added. Trials would start on January 30 at 1 pm the members of the LDCA said said. Players born on or after September 1 2007 were eligible to take part in these selection trials. No fee would be charged for these trials they said.

      The mother of the victim Bhupinder Kaur reported to the police that she and her son were going towards Model Town when the rashly driven car hit the two-wheeler. “Both of us fell and Gurdeep sustained serious injuries and had to be rushed to hospital while the car driver managed to flee from the spot” she said. The police booked the unidentified car driver under Sections 279/337/338/427 of the IPC. Darshan Singh said in a report lodged with the police that the driver of the truck (NZ-01C-5274) sped from the spot after the accident. Cops traced the truck driver from the registration number of the vehicle and the accused identified as Alam Khan Guru Nanak Rod Dewas Naka Indore in Madhya Pradesh had been booked.

Mandeep Singh of Saral Dyers said “There is no transparency in allotment criteria for shares in the CETP. Jindal further said that they were going to move the NGT against the Punjab Pollution Control Board's fresh conditions regarding the allotment of shares in the CETP.

      Ludhiana January 27For rendering distinguished services during Covid 19 ADCP-IV Rupinder Kaur Sra has been awarded 'Praman Patra' by the Punjab Government. Along with her routine duties she had also contributed as nodal officer for Covid-19 in the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate. Sra also launched various awareness drives to promote use of mask to check second wave of Covid and led the drive for distribution of masks and sanitary napkins in slum areas during curfew and salso organised awareness programmes for menstrual health. She launched a drive to arrest proclaimed offenders (POs) and it was due to her efforts that in a short span of time 18 POs were arrested by her team.
