      Nitin JainTribune News ServiceLudhiana January 16In a first the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police today facilitated a critically ill patient to get a fresh lease of life by shifting him from Ludhiana to Mohali within 100 minutes. With damaged lungs the patient was shifted to another hospital in Ludhiana where he was kept on oxygen and ventilator support which further deteriorated his body parts. As his heart and brain were working fine the doctors at the Ludhiana hospital advised him for lungs' transplant to save his life. But the only condition put forth by the Mumbai doctors was the minimum time in which the patient could be brought to them. The aggrieved family somehow reached the Ludhiana Police chief who immediately responded and asked his men to create a green corridor from the Ludhiana hospital to the Mohali airport.

While entering the gurdwara premises one can see 'dispensary' written by hand and almost faded on a wall to guide visitors towards the dispensary. “We do not have a Class IV employee and a sweeper at the dispensary and staff share the expenses of the job done by a private sweeper. The medical officer from the dispensary of Kidwai Nagar is called by the staff when any patient asks for consultation. As a result the number of patients visiting the dispensary has decreased.

      Tribune News ServiceLudhiana January 17Cyber criminals duped two residents in Ludhiana and Khanna in separate incidents. The police registered cases in both incidents and started a probe to nab the accused. Investigating officer ASI Surinder Pal said during the probe the accused who duped the woman were identified as Vishnu Kumar of Bharatpur Anwar Hussain of Assam Ashoni Sangma of Assam T Krishna of Jharkhand. In another incident cyber criminals duped a Khanna resident Shobit Verma of Rs 26 948 on the pretext of selling him a bicycle. Investigating officer Inspector Hemant Kumar said during a probe the accused were identified as Sourab Kumar and Sunil Dhurve but their whereabouts were yet to be probed.

Additional DCP Traffic Pragya Jain will lead the drive along with ACP (Traffic) Varunjit Singh and ACP Gurdev Singh. On the first day of the traffic awareness month Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal will take part in the inaugural event at the Dholewal chowk. Later women police personnel will hold a traffic rules awareness rally on scooters. Sources said the police will do minimal challaning this month and create awareness among residents to resort to safe driving.

      Nikhil BhardwajTribune News ServiceLudhiana January 16Notorious travel agent Nitish Ghai who had once hogged the limelight for facing over 100 FIRs of travel and immigration fraud is again on the radar of Ludhiana Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal. In three cases a compromise was achieved reportedly by compensating the victims of travel fraud. As per the police one travel fraud was cancelled and in one case Ghai had acquitted by the court. The CP while talking to The Tribune said since the police have already launched a probe against the illegal travel business running in the city in which around 100 FIRs have been registered against over 200 travel agents in the past few days “Now our focus is on the old travel fraud cases registered in the city in the past during this exercise case of notorious travel agent Nitish Ghai was found against whom 105 travel fraud cases were registered in the past. Ghai broke all records of travel fraud in 2018Over 100 FIRs were registered against travel and immigration agent Nitish Ghai in 2018 by then ADCP Surendra Lamba.

To garner support from residents of the region tractor rallies are being organised as a token of rehearsal.       Ludhiana January 16The Basti Jodhewal police registered a case against an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Salem Tabri police station on the charges of blackmailing a chemist shop owner. The complainant said he tried to convince the cop that he did not sell banned drugs but the cop threatened to implicate him in a fake drugs case. The policeman then demanded Rs 50000 from him “else he would himself bring banned drugs at his medical store and register a case of drugs in this regard”. I then approached the police station and got registered a case against the cop” the complainant added. Notably the cop was caught red handed by the police when he was receiving the bribe from the store owner.

They blamed the college management committee for not regularising their posts. “The college management concerned has failed to complete the process of regularisation of the teachers appointed against 1925 grant-in-aid post inspite of many requests letters and reminders. But 18 teachers of Arya College are still forced to work on a meagre salary of Rs 21600” he said. Prof Batta said “In lieu of the adamant attitude adopted by Arya College Management Committee the teachers of the college held protest on 9th January but our demands have not been met till date.

      Ludhiana January 15The College of Community Science Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organised a virtual gender sensitisation workshop on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 in which more than 350 non-teaching staff members of the PAU Campus Ludhiana. Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Regional Research Stations from all districts of Punjab participated. The objective of workshop was to sensitise the staff regarding the Act and to promote safe and gender neutral environment for the women staff of the institution. The Dean College of Community Science Dr Sandeep Bains in her introductory remarks emphasized that any kind of harassment to women is considered violation of women's right to equality life and liberty. It creates an insecure and hostile work environment discouraging women's participation in work and thereby adversely affecting their social and economic empowerment and the goal of inclusive growth.
