      Tribune News ServiceLudhiana December 2Punjab Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (PAMETI) organised a webinar “Role of ICT in agricultural knowledge management” in which 59 participants from state agriculture and allied departments and ATMA got registered. During the inaugural session Dr HS Dhaliwal Director PAMETI said the workshop aimed to aware the participants about how the ICT was needed to gather manage and process agricultural knowledge properly. Dr SR Verma faculty from EEI introduced the term information and communication technologies (ICTs) to the participants and explained its importance in agriculture and allied areas.

      Ludhiana December 2MC Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal has ordered to suspend three sanitary inspectors and dismiss a contractual safai karamchari for allegedly showing negligence in discharge of their duties. Following a report prepared by the health branch in charge the MC Commissioner suspended chief sanitary inspector Jagtar Singh sanitary inspectors Gurinder Singh and Satinderjit Bawa. He has also recommended that the case regarding these officials be sent to the Local Bodies Department for further action. Meanwhile Municipal Employees Sangarsh Committee chairman Ashwani Sahota said action taken against these employees was wrong. The compressive strength of some road samples was found to be less than required strength as per information.

      Ludhiana December 2The Punjab State Information Commission has imposed a penalty of Rs 10000 on the MC's public information officer (PIO) for not providing information to an applicant under the RTI Act. Sat Pal Sharma of Durgapuri in Haibowal Kalan had sought an information from the Municipal Corporation but he claimed that officers did not provide any information to him. During the hearing of the case MC draftsman at Zone D Jagdeep Singh who appeared on behalf of the respondent PIO stated that all available information had been given to the appellant. But the appellant Satpal Sharma stated that information regarding encroachment had not been given to him till date. State Information Commissioner Sanjiv Garg has ordered to impose a penalty on the PIO concerned.

      Shivani BhakooTribune News ServiceLudhiana December 2Following a complaint filed by an RTI activist the District Education Office (Secondary) has asked private unaided and affiliated schools in the district to provide proper information by filling ABC and D performa under the Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institutions Act 2016 and Fees Amendment Bill 2019 to the education office. The DEO also asked the schools to make a PDF file and send at [email protected] too. The DEO directed schools to upload the annual reports on the websites at the earliest failing which an action will be initiated against schools and in that case latter only would be accountable. It may be mentioned that RTI Activist Rohit Sabharwal had complained to higher authorities that 26 unaided educational institutions (i.e Private Schools) running in Ludhiana had failed to submit their annual reports as per Section 19 of the Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institutions Act 2016 and Rule 7 of the Punjab State Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institutions Rules 2017 with the competent authority and for illegally and arbitrarily charging admission fee from their old students at the start of every academic year who just got promoted to the next class by passing their examination.

      Tribune News ServiceLudhiana November 28A member of the Ludhiana West Grievances Redressal Committee has written to the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Local Bodies Minister Brahm Mohindra and requested them to take the required steps to improve the condition of senior citizen homes in the city. Committee member Satish Thaman said there was a need to modernise all senior citizen homes with the support of the Local Bodies Department in all 95 wards of the Ludhiana municipal corporation (MC) and other areas under GLADA or the Ludhiana Improvement Trust. Thaman said all senior citizen homes in the areas under the MC GLADA LIT or panchayats should be equipped with the required modern facilities. He said “Most of the senior citizen homes do not open from 6 am to 8 pm and remain closed and locked as senior citizens remain indoors due to the Covid pandemic. I have requested the CM and Local Bodies Minister to take the required steps to modernise all senior citizen homes.”

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma today said under the “Mission Fateh” of the Punjab Government the number of coronavirus patients getting cured in Ludhiana district was increasing with each passing day. A total of 132 patients (100 new patients from the district and 32 from other states/districts) had tested positive in the last 24 hours. He said now the total number of patients related to Ludhiana was 22642 while 3209 patients were related to other districts/states. Now the total number of persons who had lost their lives included 902 from Ludhiana district and 378 from other districts.
