According to medical experts epilepsy is a “chronic disorder characterised by recurrent seizures which may vary from a brief lapse of attention or muscle jerks to severe and prolonged convulsions”.
Epilepsy is a chronic non-communicable disorder of the brain that affects people of all ages but in most cases it can be successfully treated with anti-epileptic drugs.
Epilepsy has been described as Apasmar in Ayurveda according to Ludhiana-based Ayurvedic expert Gauhar Vatsyayan.
Experts emphasise that for seizures during epilepsy the golden rule was not to panic.
Persons with epilepsy must carry a seizure first aid card.

A number of such workers were provided masks and gloves only once when the Covid-19 lockdown was announced and these had got damaged after a short period.

Vijay Kumar of the Municipal Karamchari Sayunkt Committee Ludhiana said “Some workers have however got these items twice.
We appeal to the MC to take the required steps to provide new masks and gloves to all safai karamcharis sewer men and others involved in sanitation works.”Meanwhile Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu said they would provide new masks and gloves to the sanitation workers soon.
